HARE’S EASTER!
A short script to introduce Easter activities , assembly or worship. This script was used at a junior school Easter parade for young children and parents. The puppet could be a person dressed up as a rabbit or a hare.
D= Vent   H= Hare

D. Good morning and welcome to our special Easter parade. Are you the Easter bunny?
H. Do I look like a bunny?
D. Well yes, you do really.
H. Easter bunnies wear pink and all that cute stuff. Seriously do I look all  pink and fluffy to you?
D. Well you’ve got ears like a bunny rabbit.
H. You’re splitting hares. Actually I’m a very distant relation to Peter Rabbit, Roger Rabbit, Brer rabbit, Bugs Bunny and Warren.
D. That’s a lot of impressive rabbits.
H. My cousin is the ‘Energiser” who keeps going on and on and on and on
D. Ok thanks. You’re carrying on…
H. And on and on (pause) on …I’ll have you know that I’m a hare!  Hairy Potter the 13th but friends call my ‘Hopsy’.
D. Well Hopsy thanks for calling in today for our Easter celebration.
H. What with all this Easter stuff like Easter eggs?
D. Well at Easter time some people give chocolate Easter eggs to their friends and family.
H. Chocolate is not just for breakfast!
D. The egg is a reminder of new life..
H. Like a chicken coming out of an egg…
D. We remember Jesus coming back to life again a long time ago. Easter is a special celebration for Christians. We also get to eat  hot cross buns.
H. I’ve met a few ‘hot cross buns’ in my time and I say “Don’t be mad stay hoppy”!
D. The buns have a cross on top of them which reminds people about Jesus death on the cross and all that he has done for us.
H. I’ve seen people wearing a cross around their neck
D Well that could be a reminder of Jesus too.
H. Do we get to eat the hot cross buns as well before they become cold cross buns?
D. We’ll get to eat some soon ( or later). Are you feeling hungry?
H.  Oh yes! I’ve just done half an hour “harerobics” to “hip hop”.
D. Well we hope you all have a happy and holy Easter and remember we’re celebrating God’s special love for all people.
H. Mr S I’ve met a few grey hare’s in my life and now I’ve met you!
D. I think you’d better hop it!
H. I’m going on and on and on and ….(into the distance).
