Take Up Your Mat and Walk
John 5- The lame at the pool
1. Bethsaida pool, a lame man lies.
Silently, he lonely cries
In this way of life, some things never change -
Things never change.
2. This lame man heard a new voice tell,
"Do you want to be well ? "
A sound so sure, he knew he longed to be whole-
He'd longed to be whole.
3. 'Sir', he turned, 'how can it be ?
Others push in front of me '
"Get up pick up your mat, your mat and walk-
Your mat and walk.'
Chorus
Get up, pick up, pick up your mat and walk (x3)

4. Cured, he stood and took a step.
He walked and staggered then he lept.
So much new, so much to face ahead -
To face ahead.
5. His mat now held tight to his side,
He faced a testy crowd and cried
"I know the Law , but can't you see I'm healed ! -
I'm walking free.'
Chorus...
He said, Get up, pick up, pick up your mat and walk.
I heard Jesus say " get up, pick up, pick up your mat and walk.'
It was Jesus said, 'get up, pick up,pick up  your mat and walk.

6. Though we're sometimes paralyzed,
Lord Jesus calls up all to rise,
Hear, not fear, take up your mat and walk -
"Get up, pick up, pick up your mat and walk.'
Hear Jesus say, 'get up,pick up,pick up  your mat and walk,
Trust Jesus now, get up, pick up your mat and walk.
