Jailbreaker
A short puppet skit used in a school setting to introduce the Bible story of Paul and Silas in jail at Antioch.
(Acts 16:16-40) Theme: God is with us even during hard times.
B= Bentley (dog puppet) D= Don or Daisy (adult leader or puppet interviewer)
D. Hi Bentley! Great to see you again. How are you?
B. Boy, It sure is windy outside!
(change to weather conditons..) I just nearly got blown off my paws.
D. Well it's good you could be here. Have you been busy?
B. I've been really busy busy. My best friend Digger and I have been working on tunnel no.3. Code named "Undies" (or Subway or Pittsburgh). Don't ask why. It's bottom secret. It's taken ages but we've almost tunnelled past the clothesline and nearly under the neighbours fence.
D. Just how many tunnels have you dug?
B. I've lost count. Can't go past four...run out of paws. We nearly had a disaster last week with a cave in. Digger, who's put on weight ...hasn't been back to 'Woof Watchers" got stuck. I panicked and then had to drag him out backwards. And that's not his best look I'll tell you!
D. Well today ( in church or chapel,,,) we've been reading in the Bible about how two followers of Jesus- Paul and Silas were put into prison.
B... And they dug a tunnel to escape right?
D. Ah, no.

B. They pinched the jailer's keys and tied him up with chains and then sat on him?
D. Ah, no.
B. Well what happened then? Were Paul and Silo scared?

D. Silas. It's Paul and Silas.. Actually they prayed and sang songs of praise to God.
B. I would have been scared. (shaking) I don't think I could have sung anything. And I guess then the other prisoners voted them out?
D. Well, soon after that there was a terrible earthquake and the jailer thought  he was going to die but he ended up believing in Jesus. Later a local judge set Paul and Silas free.
B. Wow!  Off the leash.. good for them!
D. The guys thanked God for being with them through all that had happened.
B. Amazing , but I've got to get going and fix up the swimming pool pump to drain a "secret tunnel".
D. Say hi to Digger for me!
B. I will... when he gets off his crutches. Bone-a -vista!
