JESUS IS THE BREAD OF LIFE
A short puppet skit which was used in a school Chapel Service to introduce the children to Jesus being our carer and maintainer.
Two Characters: D= Don or Daisy ( leader or interviewer puppet) C= Cookie (baker or Chef puppet)
D. Jesus said to his followers.. "I am the bread of life" but what did he mean by this? Well today I've asked my friend 'Cookie the baker' to join us at Chapel. Maybe he can help us answer this question.
C. Hi D. and Good morning boys/girls. It's great to be with you today but I can't stay too long. I've still got loads of baking to do for the lunchtime rush. Lot's and lot's of rolls to bake -brown, white, blue- high in fiber and good for the..tummy.
D. Well we're glad you could spare the time.
C. Oh, before I forget . I've brought a dinner roll for you. It just needs to cook for a couple of minutes then it'll be ready to eat!
D. Well that's kind of you Cookie but we don't have an oven right here in Chapel.
C. Oh that's okay. I've got a hot app for that. It's a mobile oven. I'll put your roll in it right under the desk (stand..) here.
D. Cookie one reason I asked you here today was to see if you could help us figure our what Jesus meant when he said ''I am the bread of life''. What do you think?
C. I guess.. we eat bread mostly every day otherwise we'd get hungry. I don't think Jesus was saying we need to eat him...maybe feed on what he says?  Munch for lunch.. or something more than that...
D. Do you think he was maybe talking about faith-believing in him? A little bite of high fiber faith each day helps people to grow more like Jesus. He shows his care as he fills up people's lives with love, hope, peace.
C. ..and Joy! That's my wife's name. We met in cookery classes. A case of ''boil meets grill".  She fills my sandwiches! Oh, I think your roll must be ready now. Let me see..
(looking below and producing a large loaf of bread on a plate). There you are!
D. Thanks Cookie I'm sure it will taste delicious but it seems to have grown!
C. Ciabatta eat up quickly and think more about growing like  Jesus.
D. It's been great to see you..
C. Yes, well I must go now. Got to keep rolling. Bye everyone!
