LISTENING TO GOD
A short puppet script used in a school setting based on 1 Samuel chapter 3
B= Bentley (dog puppet) D= Don or Daisy (adult or interviewer puppet).
D. Hi Bentley! How are you? I haven't seen you for ages.
B. I've been sick with with a really bad cold and cough... A 'dog in the throat'. My ears have been blocked up all week.
D. That's no good..
B. Pardon?
D. I said, "that's no good".
B. "Like some food?" Yes please.
D. No. I said. That's no good. Not food.
B. Well can you make up your mind? I'm hungry.
D. Bentley, I'll move closer to you.
B. You don't have to shout! I never thought I'd hear myself say that.
D. Bentley today (in Chapel or ...)  we've been hearing about a young boy called Samuel. He heard God speaking to him during the nightime.
B. Did God tell him to sit on his mat?
D. Not exactly.. but an old priest named Eli did tell him to go and lie down again and go back to sleep a few times. Finally Samuel said "Speak Lord (that was God). I'm listening to you!"
B. So Sam heard God speak to him and he did what God said?
D. That's right.
B. Pardon?
D. I said, " that's right!"
B. I don't bite! You know that. I'm just a puppet dog.
D. Well how come your ears are blocked?
B. ..And you're talking to me?
D. Well I think you're rather special.
B. You think so. I heard that!
D. Say goodbye Bentley.
B. Goodbye Bentley. Woof! Woof!
