NICODEMUS  (John 3)
This short puppet skit was used in a school Chapel service as an introduction to sharing the Bible account of Nicodemus.
A play for either two puppets or one adult and a Mouse puppet
D= Don (adult leader) , N= Mouse puppet called 'Nico'

D. Hi there mouse. Welcome! Would you like to introduce yourself?
N. Hi everyone.. I'm Nico de Mouse!
D. And what are you doing here today?
N. Well, I like hanging out in this Chapel (church, classroom...) and I heard        all these children singing beautifully and I thought something big must          be happening. I really like to make new friends! ..Do you have any cheese?
D. Ah, no I'm sorry. I..
N. (interrupting)   Hey you've got candles! Any birthday cake? I lo-ve birthday cake!
D. No, sorry again. I don't have any cake right here with me now. You certainly ask lot's of questions. In fact you remind me of a guy from the Bible we've been hearing about this morning. His name was Nicodemus.
N. You're kidding! That's my name! Was he a nice guy? Did he have whiskers or a "moustache"?
D. Well the name does sound similar but we don't know exactly what he looked like.
N. But 'furry' nice maybe?
D.  We do read in the Bible that Nicodemus was really keen to meet Jesus so he went at night time to ask Jesus some questions to find out for himself why some people thought he was so special.
N. I can understand Nico going out at night. I have my own 'nightmoves'. Was he quiet as a mouse ? What happened when he met Jesus?
D. Well Jesus told Nicodemus that if he wanted to be his friend he had to make a new start with God - like being born all over again.
N. A new birthday.. but where's the cake? And did they stay friends?
D. It seems like they did, even though it was probably hard for Nicodemus to follow Jesus he wanted to trust in him and get to know him better.
N. My friend Maxy really helped me when I was sick last year with 'hand in mouse' disease. He brought me food and gave me foot rubs.
D. Well Jesus wants us all to be his friend and follower even today.
N. Gee thanks for the chat D. I nearly need to nick off and sleep but can I stay a little longer and listen to more of that lovely singing?
D. Sure you can. Bye for now!
